ETNL Language Lab – Modular / Technical Features
|
| Teacher console |
| The `teacher position’ is provided with control functions to monitor all student positions. With this, the teacher can group the various batches, set session timing and fix the respective lessons. An exclusive feature is an option to listen to or view the recorded lesson and the students’ voice separately. The teacher can stop the action at a selected student’s position for administering instructions or making corrections. This feature enhances the teacher’s personalized attention of the individual students. The teacher can give instructions to all the students simultaneously by interrupting the class. |

| Student console |
| With this feature each student downloads the respective recorded lessons for the session on to the hard disk at the student’s console. The student can listen to the expert’s lessons and pronunciations, repeat after the expert in the gaps provided and simultaneously record them, replay and compare the two. Corrections, in case of erratic pronunciations, if any, are also possible, and are to be made. With this facility, a selected passage or lesson can be repeated over and over again, until one is able to deliver the passage or lesson with the correct pronunciation, together with the right accent, stress, phonetics, modulation etc. |

| Recorder / Digitizer |
This will convert the original passages provided and stored in tapes or in other recording devises, into digital format. Alternately the teacher can also use the ETNL Language Lab for recording the teacher’s own material or any other passages or lessons, the teacher chooses. |
A major stumbling block in the process of learning a spoken language is inhibition or fear of being ridiculed by others. By isolating a student with head phones and mike, and if feasible, a cubicle, the fear factor is removed. |
